DIY Nail Wrap Removal Oil: A Quick and Easy Guide

Tired of harsh chemical removers that can dry out or damage your nails? Try a natural alternative instead!
In this post, you’ll learn how to make your own nail wrap removal oil using just a few simple ingredients.
What You’ll Need:
-
Lemon Essential Oil
-
Carrier Oil (like jojoba, sweet almond, apricot kernel, or olive oil)
-
Small glass bottle with dropper or an empty brush-tip cuticle oil pen (available on Amazon—one of my favourite methods!)
How to Make It:
1. Mix Your Oils
Use a 10% dilution:
-
For a 10ml blend, use 1ml of lemon essential oil and 9ml of your chosen carrier oil.
-
For a 50ml blend, use 5ml lemon oil and 45ml carrier oil.
2. Bottle It Up
Pour the mixture into a small dropper bottle or an empty cuticle oil pen with a brush tip.
(Tip: The brush pen is especially handy for controlled, mess-free application.)
3. Shake to Combine
Give it a good shake to make sure everything is evenly mixed.
How to Use:
Step 1: Loosen the Edges
Gently lift a small corner of each nail wrap to give the oil a way in.
Step 2: Apply the Oil
Use the dropper or brush pen to apply the oil underneath the wrap and around the edges.
Massage it in gently with a rubber cuticle pusher or your fingertip.
Step 3: Wait & Remove
Let it sit for a few minutes. The adhesive should begin to loosen, and the wraps will slide off easily.
Wipe away any remaining residue with an alcohol swab if needed.
Why Lemon Essential Oil?
Lemon essential oil is a natural disinfectant with antibacterial properties—and it’s great at breaking down the adhesive used in nail wraps. It’s a gentler, more nail-friendly alternative to chemical removers.
Why Use a Carrier Oil?
Carrier oils help dilute the essential oil to make it safe for your skin. They also nourish and moisturize your nails and cuticles during the removal process.
A Few Extra Tips:
-
Patch Test First: Always test your oil on a small area of skin to check for any sensitivity.
-
Store It Right: Keep your oil in a cool, dark place to maintain its potency.
-
Post-Removal Care: After removal, wash your hands and apply a nourishing nail oil or cuticle cream to keep your nails healthy.
Making your own nail wrap removal oil is an easy, natural way to care for your nails—no harsh chemicals needed. And using a brush-tip pen makes it even easier to apply exactly where you need it.
